The laser tool is activated by clicking the Laser tool button found on the Tool side of the menu. To deactivate it click on the same button again or activate another tool. Most things in CellexalVR activates the laser tool automatically for you when you point the controller towards them, and deactivates it when the controller is no longer pointing towards something that can be interacted with. Activating the laser tool manually will cause the laser pointer to be shown at all times.

The laser tool is a multi-purpose tool. It does not have one specific use case but one used for different reasons. One example is interacting with heatmaps, you can mark out specific areas of the heatmap with the laser tool as well as clicking on genes on the side to colour the graph by that gene. You can also use the laser tool to click the buttons on the heatmap or enlarged networks. The laser tool can be used to move things in the environment around. This can come in handy if graphs or networks are too far away or if you just don't feel like moving.

Pointing the laser at an object and press the touchpad's top quarter on the action controller to push the object further away from you and touchpad's bottom quarter to get it closer to you.
