The words "grouping" and "selection" are used interchangeably in this manual.

A grouping consists of one or more groups of cells where each group have a unique color. To create a grouping, press "Selection tool menu" in the menu and then press the "Selection Tool" button in the new menu that pops up. To close this menu, press the little red x at the bottom. Your action controller will now feature a teardrop shaped paddle which can be used to select cells in graphs. To change the color of the tool, use the action controller's touchpad's right and left buttons. To change the shape of the tool, use the action controller's touchpad's up and down buttons. There are four shapes available, the default teardrop-shaped paddle, a thin stick, a larger sphere and a smaller sphere. Press and hold the trigger button and move the chosen shape through a graph to select cells that touch the shape. The actual controller won't collide with the graphs and cause cells to be selected, only the shape that sticks out of it. Cells you select will be given a glowing outline and the color of the selection tool. If there are multiple graphs present, the cells in the other graphs will also be given the colored outline and they will be selected. This means you can immediately find where a group of cells reside in another graph. There is another set of the four aforementioned shapes that will always be grey, these can be used to remove cells from your selection, before you have confirmed it. Moving the controller too fast can cause the tool to skip some cells. The fastest you can go with your controller depends on your frame rate (and thus your hardware). No faster than ~10 cm/second is what we use as a rule of thumb. You do not have to move the controller out of the graph to change the color, just press the touchpad with your thumb. It is a good habit to move your menu out of the way, or turning it off, when creating a grouping as the selection tool will temporarily deactivate if you move it too close to the menu. If you make any mistakes or want to start over there are undo and redo buttons on the menu to undo/redo the one or ten last cells you selected. You can also undo/redo all of the last cells that you gave the same color, or undo all cells all together.

When you are happy with your selection, press "confirm selection". The cells will lose their outline when confirmed so you can distinguish between cells you have yet to confirm and cells that belong to an older selection.
